Well, he is officially closer to 1 then he is to 0! He is also officially showing his personality and his
opinion on everything. Be it food, a toy that he wants or one that I have taken away or his love of jumping, Noah is sure to let you know how he feels about the situation with a screech, a smile or constant motion!
At his 7 month mark, Noah was still eating solids like a champ (this has since changed and will be in the 8 month update), though he is
showing a preference for some foods and a distaste for others. The first bite of any meal is verry small, just a taste really and if it suites his palate, he will open up for another bite. If not, which is usually the case with avocado and plain ol' rice cereal, he will out right refuse to eat it! He loves carrots, sweet potatoes and bananas. Though has absolutely no interest in applesauce or pears or plain rice cereal or oatmeal. I suppose after having some delicious foods, the bland cereal is downright
nasty....I don't blame him. I mix it in with the yummy foods so he still gets the nutritionally value from the cereal, but have given up on serving it straight up!
Along with the continued eating, has come a lack of spit-up. It is still an occurrence maybe once or twice a day, but the volume is petty compared to the ounces of fluid that used to spew from the kido all over me and anything else in his near vicinity! I am grateful for this accomplishment (and so are my clothes, my
friends, the carpets, the business owners, and any innocent bi standard that came across Noah and I)!
Noah is officially rolling, rolling, rolling! He rolls all over the place these days! It is super cute and quite entertaining. He manages to work himself into the funniest places...half way under the coffee table, up on top of his piano, or jammed into the corner of his crib. However, I am getting a glimpse into all the rearranging and child proofing I am going to have to do in the near future when my little Man starts crawling!
I
have been really amazed with the control that Noah now has over his movements. Not all are perfect, but his dexterity is getting better and better everyday. He can pass toys back and forth from one hand to the other with ease. He can find a toy amongst 35 others and reach out and grab the one he was looking at! He can get his binki into his own mouth now and sometimes goes through quite the process to make sure the correct side ends up in his mouth. Watching him work it out and problem solve is pretty cool. It's like a
puzzle, a one piece, 3 dimensional puzzle, but that's quite an accomplishment for a little guy!
We had our first temper tantrum this month (and a dozen or so more that followed). We were in the middle of our nightly bath time routine and he just started screaming and stretching his arms out to the side with a look of
pain on his face. I quickly yanked him out of the bath seat thinking that something was pinching him...nothing. I put him back in and after a minute, he again started to pitch a fit. Again I pulled him out and he was happy as a clam splashing away in the water. When I went to drop him back into the seat for the 3rd time, all hell broke lose! Noah stiffened his arms and legs, tossed his head back, arched his back, and screamed! Ah Ha! He was throwing a fit about the bath seat...this scenario continued the next 2 nights at bath time. Aparently Noah doesn't want the bath seat any longer!
These fits have also popped up when eating, when I take my cell phone away from him, and wh
en I was putting him to bed...which resulted in my first experience with discipline. No! I didn't tie him up and put him in the closet! Sheesh! :) But I did place him in his crib and leave the room while he cried (it was barely 3 minutes, but it broke my heart). When I returned and again tried to put him to sleep, the little stinker threw another tantrum, so I immediately placed in back in the crib and as soon as his body touched the mattress he le
t out the saddest little cry ever. Despite every ounce of me wanting to pick him up, I waited about a minute and a half(which is a really long time when your little love is so upset) before picking him up and with out a fight he cuddled and went to sleep! Mommy wins!
(here is where I left off from my earlier start on this blog!)
I suppose here would be a good place to share Noah's new favorite sound. We like to call it the "terradactyl." He most often shows off this skill in a quite restaurant, while I'm at the grocery store, while I'm on the phone, or while we are watching a movie! Or maybe that's just when I notice it the most...who knows! I think it is hilarious. He opens his mouth so wide and opens his eyes as wide as he can, lets out the loudest yell
he can muster, and then smiles! He is beaming with pride at his accomplishment and I'm sure it is just reinforced by the immediate attention he gets from everyone...my smiles and laugh are probably quite encouraging too. Luckily Daddy, Uncle Matt and Auntie Justine find it just as amusing. As for the other restaurant/grocery store/phone patrons, I don't know how they feel about it, and I apologize, but it is soo funny!
Yet another hilarious trick Noah has developed this month is "the stink face!" Sometimes it is a
bit of an Elvis Face...which the one sided curled lip and everything! The funny face is accompanied by a loud and forceful breathing through his nose, much like a bull, but quicker! I laugh every time. Now that I am
writing this, I realize that each time he makes the stink face, not only to I laugh, but I make the face and the sounds in return! Ha ha...the things we do as parents, like publicly humiliating ourselves without even knowing it. Though Justine is always quick to point out all the silly stuff I do in public just so I can see Noah laugh! Anyway, the stink face is awesome, and I wish I could figure out what purpose it is serving other than simply keeping me entertained!
I mentioned earlier that Noah loves to jump and is in constant motion! We have one of those old
school jumpy things you hang from doorways and it has quickly become a favorite activity for Daddy and Noah! He loves it! Noah gets jumping so high and has an ear to ear grin the entire time. So do we! Funny, it seems that all of the tricks and activities that
put a smile on Noah's face, also have all of us adults smiling, laughing and just as entertained as he is! This motion though is not restricted to the jumpy jump! Noah jumps everywhere...in the exersaucer, in the high chair, on your lap, on your hip, on the changing table with his feet in the air, in the car seat, in the bath...everywhere and you better be ready to support him (or protect what ever his feet are about to kick!) While Noah jumps, somehow we have developed a habit of saying, "jumpy, jumpy, jumpy, jump!" along with his movement. Now, you can look at Noah and say, "jumpy, jumpy, jumpy, jump!" and without hesitation he will start bouncing around! Soooo funny!
Daddy and Noah have also been practicing standing up. Jason is doing a pretty good job standing
on his own :) hahaha! No, but seriously, Noah's favorite place to stand is on the side of his swing. He holds onto one of the legs of the swing with one hand, and uses the other hand to play with the toys mounted on the tray. Jason sits behind Noah ready to catch him when he teeters or when his legs give out. Makes me nervous and I jump every time he tips, but again, it is sooo cool to see just how much Noah is learning and how he is growing!
Lastly, we have been attending a music class with Auntie Chesna and Cousin
Soren. The teacher has more energy than all the parents put together, and the babies love it! We sing, rock, shake, dance, drum, play shakers, throw scarfs, and use all kinds of noise makers. Noah and Soren are still in the "observer" and "chew on everything" mode, but they love it. Noah enjoys playing with the little egg shakers ALL THE TIME and is become quite the tamborine player!

Noah Attacks!

He insisted that HE feed himself the banannas! He had banannas in places you didn't know you could have banannas!

playing with Jasper and Michael!

I know this is mean, but "the poo face" is soooooo funny! These don't even show how red he really gets!

Yeah, he's gonna love you for the pooh face pictures when he's 18. :-)
What a great way to start my morning! Food between the eyes, stink faces, and pooh faces/pumping. You have got some great pictures in there. Hysterical and super cute!
